Emily Gaudet Emily Gaudet is completing an honours degree in English Literature at Concordia University. Aside from her interest in what literature says, and leaves unsaid, about sexuality, Emily is fascinated by the ways in which communities affect the production and content of texts. She is therefore pleased to be part of the interdisciplinary group of students working on the Journal of Studies in Sexuality.
Emma Leary is a fourth-year student in the B.A Major in Religion program. This is her second year participating in the Journal of Sexuality, and her first serving as Co-Editor in Chief. Her interest in sexuality really began when she studied at Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific as a teen, and bore witness to many experiences and explorations in sexuality in an international, multi-cultural setting. Her interests include the introduction of Islam and Middle Eastern culture to the “West”, and the exploration of sexuality that often accompanies such a fusion of cultures and ideas. She is incredibly honoured to have been given the opportunity to be a part of this exciting project, and hopes to see the Journal have as much success as last year! Editing Team
Patricia Faucheris a fourth year student in Political Science at Concordia University. Patricia holds a bachelor degree in Psychology at McGill University, and returned university given her strong interest in public policy, international relations and law. Patricia has worked for non-profits in clean energy. Patricia has an eccentric collection of interests in: astronomy, child soldiers, political strategy, physics, and social justice issues (environment, poverty, health, and law). Given this, she is very excited to stay on board for JISS' second year.
Rebecca Anderson is completing her Honours degree in English Literature at Concordia University, where she is also the VP Social of the Concordia Association for Students in English. Having previously vetted and copyedited submissions to the school’s Literature Undergraduate Colloquium, she most recently presented and published a paper for Quebec Universities English Undergraduate Colloquium at Bishop's University. Her specialization in feminist theory extends beyond academic context—Rebecca volunteers at the Sexual Assault Resource Center, where she actively pursues a deeper understanding of her studies.
Eben Hensby is a second-year Master’s student in Philosophy. He specializes in Continental philosophy, focusing in particular on phenomenology, existentialism, hermeneutics, deconstruction, ethics, and philosophy of animals. He is interested in questioning binaries and in finding a more responsible and responsive way to live. He has been involved with the Graduate Philosophy journal, Gnosis, as well as the Graduate Philosophy Students’ Association (GPSA), including assisting with their conference.
Lauren McClellan is a third year student at Concordia University. She studies both Liberal Arts and English Literature and is otherwise interested in Art History and Women's Studies.
Adriana Sgambetterra is in her final year of her undergraduate degree in Honours Anthropology, coming from prior studies in fine arts. Her broad span of research interests include the MENA region, contemporary Islam and laicite, Muslim youth in Quebec, Iranian society + history, transnationality, imperialism, political anthropology and written + visual ethnographic methodologies.
Jennifer Mancini Jennifer Mancini is a graduate of the Creative Writing program at Concordia University. She is completing her second undergraduate degree in Religious Studies, specializing in Women in Religion. She works in a variety of fields, from fashion (Contributing Editor and published in Poppie Magazine), to tea (owner of Coming Up Roses: Teaologist), and ESL/adult education, as well as freelance editing for fiction, poetry and fashion articles.
Amanda Leibovitch is a McGill University graduate who studied Art History, Marketing and International Business. Her editing experience includes working on countless group projects, and editing online marketing content while working as an intern for ALDO and Kenneth Cole. Her art history classes sparked her interest in the study of sexuality. She is excited to look learn more about this field from many different perspectives.
